초록/해제: 요약 :This article was written to examine the essential features and truthfulness of social theory of knowledge as a methodology of curriculum studies. Social theory of knowledge or sociology of knowledge is a science that investigates the social construction of knowledge and social reality. The concept of ideology which was suggested and inquired by Karl Marx and Karl Mannheim is the key role to understand the essence and truthfulness of social theory of knowledge. In terms of sociology of knowledge, ideology is considered as 'false consciousness' that made us misunderstand the social reality and social inequality. So, K. Mannheim suggested that the relationalization of social knowledge, investigating knowledge on the basis of historical and social conditions of cognitive horizon, was needed as a 'upright' method on social cognition to get a truthfulness of social cognition, And J. Habermas also suggested that the truthfulness of knowledge is supported by intersubjecivity between self and others in the dialog and conversation to reach the consensus and agreement on the problems which are shared by them(self and others). As a conclusion, the curriculum studies and the inquiry of education have to receive the socal theory of knowledge as a significant sociological methodology to investigate the features and directions of the curriculum theory and practice in education.
