요약 :As the student population decreases, it is getting important for universities to secure new students and students are often experiencing difficulties in choosing their schools and majors. In this situation, the importance of information on entrance examinations and information activities is increasing and various related studies has been being conducted for a few years. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the freshmen who entered the department of visual communication design at Yong-in songdam college in 2017 to find out how they got information in choosing their university, in which one of various information on universities they showed much interest, who and what kinds of public relations affected them most when they chose their university, and what affected them when they selected their majors. Some characteristics have been identified as the results of the questionnaire survey. First, the necessity of online public relations has been ascertained. It has been revealed that it is necessary to do online public relation activities by using various types of media including the homepage to provide one-way information and contents on the internet or mobile devices, bulletin boards to respond to questions, and SNS for two-way communication. Second, it has been revealed that it is necessary to maximize the effect of public relations by utilizing online media and print media at the same time. The findings have also shown that it is necessary to properly combine the convenience of online media for collecting desired information easily and quickly, the feature of mobile devices for searching necessary information just in time, and the sensitivity and reliability of print media.Third, it is necessary to share roles effectively with each other between administration headquarters and department offices. It is thought that it is necessary to maximize the effects of online public relations by compelling professional PR personnel to establish various online media strategies and provide consistent and coherent messages. It is thought that it would be helpful for providing students with selection criteria and securing new students through choice and concentration of future PR methods to conduct the same questionnaire survey on the freshmen of the department of visual communication design at Yong-in songdam college every year following this study.
