- 요약 :NIE stands for Newspaper In Education, which means education using newspaper. The purpose of this study is to maximize the effectiveness of education by using newspaper, a living textbook in college composition classrooms. That is to say, newspaper should be accepted as a brand-new teaching tool instead of depending on a routine textbook learning. NIE opens a new horizon for the innovative education that can improve student's creativity, thinking power, and expressiveness. This paper reviews ways of developing classroom debate and its possible themes. Also, it recommends several teaching methods; First, how to use cartoons, photos, and advertisements. Secondly, how to use reader's opinions, editorial, and column. Thirdly, how to use newspaper coverage i.e. reports and articles.
